Despite my love of Tales of Symphonia, I don’t really like the endings of either the first game, or the second game.
With the first…Kratos. Leaving.
I mean, really…you just found your son…he accepts you as his dad, you saved the worlds and got them to join together to stop the mana from competing, you stopped Yggdrasil…AND YOU ARE JUST GOING TO LEAVE BECAUSE YOU STILL CAN”T FORGIVE YOURSELF AND SAY THAT THE ANGELS NEED SOMEONE UP THERE WITH THEM!!!! WHY NOT YUAN!!! HE DOESN”T HAVE A SON!!! AND THEY SEEMED TO BE JUST FINE WHEN YOU WERE TRAVELLING WITH LLOYD!!! WHY DO THEY NEED YOU AGAIN? GRAH YOU SHOULD STAY WITH YOUR SON AND GO AROUND THE WORLD ON A BOAT WITH HIM AND BE A FATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BAD KRATOS! BAD! YOU NO GO! YOU STAY!
And then there is the ending to the second game. Basically Ratatosk with slowly take the mana out of things (which is what give things life). It will take thousands of years, so no one in this life time has to worry about it…but the world will become a barren planet again because all life will eventually die. Instead of working to balance the mana, no, he decides that it’s okay to just take it out…I forget why…but I was too dumbstruck by it.
YEAH. LET”S JUST LET THE PLANET DIE YEARS AND YEARS FROM NOW. IT”S OKAY.
